Version 127.0.6533.73 (or slightly earlier) of Chrome is being extra obnoxious than usual. I’m riled up to stop Chrome asking to be default browser, as it keeps popping up, with no obvious way to disable this behaviour.
On smaller screens, like my laptop, the three dot menu has gotten too cluttered, and elongated itself too much that, one is forced to scroll to get to the bottom of the menu. But I digress, my bone of contention with Chrome is, its in-your-face-behaviour, insisting it be the one and only browser, for you and the world, *every-single-time-time-it-starts*.
It permeates itself when on Google’s main page if you’re on a non-Chrome browser. It won’t play nice if it’s running off a portable version, and like a virus, it infects the host by installing itself instead.
The current update only has a ‘Make Default’ button, and one has to dig into the experimental features, specifically the Default Browser Prompt Refresh flag and disable it to stop Chrome from shoving itself down your throat.
Type chrome://flags/ in the address bar, and search for Default Browser Prompt Refresh, and disable it. This should stop Chrome prompting to be the default browser at launch.
