Dudette, My First PC

They say you never forget your first. Such is the case with Dudette, my first PC. She held the distinction of being the first computer in my family to breach 1GHz. She was powered by an AMD‘s Duron processor.

When this PC last booted up, Dudette was multi-booting Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 and Linux Redhat. I remember watching a lot of South Park with her, and using her as a test bed for my computer projects. It was with her that I started fooling around with Apache, webservers, and later WordPress in general.

Her duties included being a webserver, an FTP server, and an MP3 server. Oh, I still remember how the hard disks would be cranking when put under load. Or even just booting. I still have her in my stash, but she’s out of commission. Several capacitors were already bulging/leaking some years back.

This picture I took was taken circa 2005.I might just dig her up and pose her up for a photodumping session.
