I’ve always applied a custom Windows boot logo in every version. When upgrading my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I made the mistake of not changing the boot mode to UEFI.
To apply a custom Windows boot logo for Windows 10, I need to use HackBGRT. Because HackBGRT needs UEFI mode, I have to face this fugly default Windows boot logo everytime I power up my laptop.
Since I forgot to switch from legacy to UEFI mode, I went online to find an alternative that doesn’t require me to reinstall Windows. Googling led me to this Microsoft’s article on MBR2GPT.exe.
MBR2GPT.EXE converts a disk from the Master Boot Record (MBR) to the GUID Partition Table (GPT) partition style without modifying or deleting data on the disk.
After dilly-dallying for some time, and risking data loss (which is backed up anyway), I went ahead and used the program. At worse, it’s just a day of reinstalling Windows, updating it, and customising it. Glad to report the MBR2GPT program worked, flawlessly. There’s no data loss, and HackBGRT installs, happily with no errors.
The Windows boot logo was easily replaced. No time wasting with reinstallation and applying customisations for Windows and the apps I use. Now I get to to profess ‘Red till I die’ for Manchester United Football Club, like so. ‘Hidup Menyu!’
