Webhost Change

I’ve been mulling to get a new webhost for several months, and more seriously over the past weeks, for Adeeology.  I’ve decided to ditch my long time webhost and move to Shinjiru. As of late the site’s performances is infuriatingly dissapointing. Downtimes were more often in the past year alone, than in all the times I’ve been using them.

Routine backups and updates became a chore. It was also frustrating as it would fail or spew time out errors regularly. Comparatively, the current package I’m using is head and shoulders above, in specs and capacity. Alas, the limit of 250K inodes would be severely tested. When migrated over, I’m already at 205,000-ish, and I’m trying to prune down the count, and stay in the 80-ish percentage usage.

First impressions, damn it’s fast! Compressing a whole directory of over 200MB didn’t fail, but I didn’t bother to time it. It-was-fast.There’s no bandwidth limit, which is a major plus point. Before, I’ve had to time my backups and download them at end of month to keep under the quota. I won’t bore you with technical aspects. Let the graphics do the talking.

Loading times are also markedly faster than my previous host. This is done without activating any WordPress caching, yet. The bump in memory and raw IO capacity really shines. The migration almost went without a hitch, save for some ghost installation records, that carried into the new webserver. A list of about a dozen previous installs, (renamed, moved or deleted) were carried over. Some installs were also duplicated, and the technical team were quick to keep me updated on any progress.
