Long Hiatus From #AdeeBerlari

It has been a year plus since I’ve last ran, a real run. By real, I mean a sweat-inducing-30-to-40-minute-or-more session. This is a long hiatus from #AdeeBerlari.

May of 2022 was my last recorded real run. A tender left ankle/sole has for some time disrupted my running routine then. Must have been due to the long hours standing and working the CNC machine. I aggravated the injury by trying to keep running, and somehow even my right knee is hurting when I run, or when I slightly overextend my knee joints.

For some long months too, I can’t even use the stairs without grimacing. Not being able to run, I vented by hiking, and of course, I hurt myself even more. I avoided sudden twisting movements in my legs to avoid shooting pains. It got so bad, I had to rub my left knee during sujud, and only do the tahiyat instead of tahiyat akhir to avoid pinching my knees.

I went back to regular exercises by walking around the neighbourhood early this year, but stopped for Ramadhan. Hasn’t resumed it on a regular basis, yet. Went hiking in June, and took several day trips to KL by train. I went to work my feet, after being laid low by extreme fatigue in late March, which persisted until around May.

My left ankle/sole is acting up again. I’m accepting the fact that my right knee is going to end up like the other. I’m not going to run just yet, but I have to start exercising again. My weight has slowly crept up and stayed put. This extra weight isn’t going to shed itself, and these weight isn’t going to make running light.

I broke a decade plus of sedentary lifestyle to almost four years of constant daily regular activity, going on an uninterrupted stretch, lasting hundred of days at times. I will log thousands of km annually again, Insya Allah. Watch this spot.
