Been doing 40 minutes 5k runs regularly and consistently before MCO was enforced. Bettering that time had to wait while lockdown was in place.
When lockdown was lifted, I eagerly put on my running shoes to pound the asphalt. Sub 40 minutes times came tantalisingly close several times. This particular run was just seconds off.
I was making noticeable progress in my New Year’s resolution for #AdeeBerlari. Times were getting better, albeit progress was stalled due to the enforced layoff caused by lockdown.
In the week’s runs leading to this sub 40 minutes 5k run, I’ve been consistently posting 40-ish minutes runs since Monday. It was a matter of time before I break the elusive time barrier. Sure enough, Thursday was the day I broke the duck.
Granted I’m still unable to maintain a continous 5k run, unlike pre-MCO days, but breaking this barrier means better times and distances are possible. I’ll need to shed some more weight though, to be able to run at pace 7 comfortably. I’m currently at 71kg and at times, my left knee doth protest as I speed downhill to gain headroom in my quest for lower times.
Comparatively, the times I’m posting now is just about the same in January, but with no bursts of speed sections.
