X-Men used to be enjoyable to watch. Alas, as with most serialised movies, it got worse, but the reboot, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Logan gave it some redemption.
First Class, Days of Future Past gave the series a good light, then Apocalypse brought it back down again. Could it get any worse? Remembering the horror and mutilation of Wolverine Origin still brings a bad taste to me.
A Phoenix symbolises a rebirth, rising form the ashes of death. To start anew, refreshed, not rise up dead. This (Dark) Phoenix should stay dead.
Here’s the rundown. X-Men got good press, Charles’ chummy with the US Prez and they become the human race lifeguard. A rescue mission goes bad and Jean went crazy. Here, they left out the why, the who, the what, pretty much everything. Jean was given a long leash to be crazy and do crazy, and it pitted the X-Men (X-Women according to Raven, lame) against each other.
Anyway Jean finally found her way, and beat them, and gave herself up for the sake of the team and died into a Phoenix.Spoiler Ahead
Long and boring story short, they fought, casualties were inflicted, and a third party tried to take advantage. But who were these mofos from space? And what was it that Jean absorbed? Why Jean?
Chalk up another first for me, spending the first day of Hari Raya at the movies, and wishing this Phoenix to stay dead, and X-Men to stop being X-Mean.
